SAMEE SHEIKH

INTRO

Hi, I’m Samee; a designer with a focus on experience and strategic problem solving. I’m enthusiastic about solutions that enhance the user experience and am empathetic by nature, always looking how to help others. From a young age, I’ve been passionate about design often looking to solve problems or improve on existing systems through doodles, sketches and design.

BACKGROUND

I grew up in Greater London, and went to Architectural school for both my undergrad and post-grad at the University of Portsmouth. During my post-grad studies I was selected to represent my school and participated in an academic exchange with School of Design, Architecture, Art & Planning (DAAP) at the University of Cincinnati.

Since completion of my post-grad studies in 2004, I’ve worked at a several firms well established Architectural Design firms in London and San Francisco; on projects ranging in scope, scale and typology from hospitals to museums and high end homes. In 2013, wanting to further deepen my understanding of the built environment and the end clients/users experience I made a shift to the construction side, taking a position at an established general contractor’s firm which also allowed me to gain more project management experience.

CURRENTLY

Having spent several years on the project management and operations side, my desire to re-engage at a core design level led me to explore User Experience Design as the next logical step in my career. After several project roles, extra curricula positions and feed back to further pursue UXD, I undertook a certification course with General Assembly to skill up and officially begin my transition into UX.
